Fifth tour of the Royal Opera of Madrid
in the United States
Within the framework of the 250th Anniversary of the Independence of the United States, the Royal Opera of Madrid is promoting its 5th cultural tour as a strategic axis of diplomacy and international cooperation.
This project places Spanish artistic excellence at the center of a global event, reinforcing the historical ties between both nations and consolidating culture as an essential tool for encounter and leadership between societies.

Our galas through the years
On September 15 , 2022 , the Royal Opera of Madrid's resident orchestra made its debut at Carnegie Hall in New York.
This event, titled A Celebration of Spanish Music , was part of the United States' National Hispanic Heritage Month and also celebrated the 40th anniversary of the sister city relationship between Madrid and New York.
Under the direction of Juanjo Mena , with pianist Javier Perianes and soprano Sabina Puértolas , they offered a repertoire focused on Spanish music, including works by Manuel de Falla, Isaac Albéniz, Amadeo Vives and Pablo Sorozábal.
The gala was preceded by a performance of the Authentic Flamenco tour at the Ángel Orensanz Foundation on September 14th.

The 16th of October 2023 , following the success of the previous edition, the Royal Opera of Madrid returned to New York presenting a spectacular symphonic and vocal program at the David Geffen Hall , Lincoln Center.
The concert was conducted by Maestro Juanjo Mena , accompanied by flamenco singer Esperanza Fernández and cellist Pablo Ferrández . They offered a repertoire that combined Spanish tradition with great symphonic works, including composers such as Manuel de Falla, Antonín Dvořák, Alberto Ginastera, and Maurice Ravel.
Before the concert, a gala dinner was held in collaboration with the AHCES Foundation .
2024
Carnegie Hall
In June 2024, the Royal Opera of Madrid launched the American Fellows of Teatro Real community in New York, its first network of Friends in the United States, with the aim of encouraging American participation in the institution's activities and expanding cultural ties between the two countries.
The presentation events took place on June 25th and 26th, coinciding with the Royal Opera of Madrid's third trip to New York, and included concerts in Carnegie Hall 's Zankel Hall .
The gala, titled "The Eight Seasons of Vivaldi and Piazzolla ," featured two cycles of "seasons" by both composers, showcasing a dialogue between Europe and America. Violinist Leticia Moreno performed as soloist and also conducted the soloists of the Royal Opera of Madrid Orchestra during this program.

Carnegie Hall




The 4th Grand Gala of the Royal Opera of Madrid in New York was held on June 5th, 2025 at Carnegie Hall, where the Royal Opera Orchestra, conducted by David Afkham, performed a festive program that combined Spanish and symphonic music.
The evening began with Joaquín Turina's Fantastic Dances and continued with Erich Wolfgang Korngold's Violin Concerto, performed by Spanish violinist María Dueñas. It also marked the US debut of soprano Saioa Hernández, who sang arias from Spanish zarzuelas and operas.
The second half included works by Maurice Ravel, as well as pieces by Manuel de Falla. A gala dinner was held before the concert, in collaboration with the AHCES Foundation.
